Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yize Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Sandford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sandford has chosen Two steps from hell-Heart of courage as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sandford shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Li manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Li pulls Sandford in close to his closed guard and prevents Sandford from doing any damage or advancing position.
Li pushes Sandford off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Sandford shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Li wants to get back to full guard.
Sandford tries to pass the half guard into mount. Li knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Sandford looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are battling for position here. Li manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Li is looking to stand up but Sandford isn't so interested in that idea.
Li has momentary wrist control but Sandford slips an elbow through the middle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sandford comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Sandford throws a series of punches but Li avoids them all with ease.

Sandford shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sandford was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Sandford cracks Li with a big right hand but Li just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Sandford wants to free his trapped foot but Li is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Sandford throws an elbow that misses. Li uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sandford's guard. Nice move by Li!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

A punch lands to the side of Li 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Li fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Sandford lands a slapping body shot.
Li throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Li ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sandford moves away.

Sandford fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Li manages to avoid it.
Li seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Li scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sandford doesn't seem bothered though.
Sandford looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Li is fending him off so far but Sandford persists. Nope, Li circles away and we're back to standing.

Sandford throws a right and a left that Li avoids nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Li misses with a hook. Sandford ducked under it nicely.

and Li counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Sandford dives in for a single leg takedown but Li sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Li takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
The fighters circle momentarily. Sandford darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Li swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Sandford has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Sandford closes the distance and clinches up with Li, looking for a takedown. Sandford pushes Li against the cage but Li circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Yize Li is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Li lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sandford circles away quickly and effectively.

Sandford shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Li pinned against the cage. Li gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
