Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Mitchelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jimmy Johns!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Johns.
Johns avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Mitchelson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Johns missing with knees to the body.
Johns tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Johns throws an elbow that misses.

Johns breaks the clinch.
Mitchelson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Johns defends it nicely.
Johns connects with a solid leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johns defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mitchelson.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Mitchelson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Johns throws a solid leg kick but Mitchelson takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Johns.
Mitchelson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Johns pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mitchelson is out of range and Johns settles back down.
Mitchelson throws a series of punches but Johns moves out of range.
Johns stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johns wants it to stay on the feet.
Johns scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Mitchelson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Johns defends it nicely.

Johns throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Mitchelson dives in for a single leg takedown but Johns sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
A big right from Mitchelson misses.
Johns throws a low kick, looking for Mitchelson's leg but Mitchelson calmly moves out of range.
Mitchelson is looking to clinch but Johns is avoiding it.
Mitchelson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johns circles away.
Johns avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Johns was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Johns fakes the leg kick and cracks Mitchelson in the body.
Johns is looking to slow Mitchelson down with leg kicks.
Johns walks into a jab.

Nice takedown defense from Johns. No joy for Mitchelson on that attempt.
Johns throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Johns throws a wild body kick that Mitchelson sees coming a mile off.
Mitchelson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Johns lands with a nice body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johns bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Mitchelson is breathing heavily.
Mitchelson throws a combination. Johns tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Mitchelson tries for a takedown but Johns sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mitchelson dives in and grabs Johns's left leg, looking for a takedown. Johns pushes down on Mitchelson's head and hops out.
Mitchelson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mitchelson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Johns drives through with a takedown into Mitchelson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Johns stands and throws Mitchelson's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Johns landing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Johns dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Johns throws a sloppy head kick and Mitchelson moves out of range easily.
Jimmy Johns seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Mitchelson misses with the combination.
Johns cracks the inside of Mitchelson's front leg.
Mitchelson feints a jab promting Johns to slip. Mitchelson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Johns slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Mitchelson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Johns connects with an inside leg kick.
Johns has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johns throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Johns decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Johns has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Mitchelson defend it? Johns steps over the head and cranks it - Mitchelson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Johns!
