PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Howard Stern (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Schloash Ylurner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Stern might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Great American Nightmare. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Howard Stern!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Schloash Ylurner!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stern throws a shot from downtown. Ylurner moves away and avoids it.
Stern misses with a few strikes there.
Ylurner lands a two punch combo.
Ylurner moves out of range of the body kick.
Stern jabs Ylurner to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Ylurner walks into a straight right hand from Stern.
Ylurner looks to land a combination. Stern sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Stern throws the kick towards the body but Ylurner avoids it.
Stern throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Stern slips a jab and a cross from Ylurner.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A lazy body kick from Stern
and Ylurner counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ylurner thuds his shin into the meat of Stern's side.
Stern changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Stern throws a jab but it's blocked by Ylurner.
Stern darts in looking for a takedown but Ylurner gets double underhooks and turns Stern into the cage.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Ylurner.
Stern throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ylurner sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Stern gets the takedown into side control.

Ylurner prevents Stern from moving into mount.

Stern is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ylurner is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ylurner is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Stern is trying to get an arm triangle but Ylurner is defending well.

Stern goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ylurner rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Stern's guard! Nice work there by Ylurner!
Stern wants to stand but Ylurner is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Stern working for a triangle but Ylurner defends it easily.

Stern has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ylurner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Stern is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ylurner defends well.

Stern has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Ylurner is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stern.

Stern is in all sorts of trouble here.
Stern avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ylurner.
Stern bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Howard Stern will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ylurner ducks right into an uppercut from Stern.
Ylurner comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Stern throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ylurner takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Stern tries to clinch up.
Ylurner fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Stern shoots in but Ylurner avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Stern changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ylurner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Stern tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stern has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Ylurner can't do much from the bottom here.
Stern tries to move to mount but Ylurner blocks the move with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ylurner sneaks back into half guard.
Ylurner works his way to full guard. Good work.
Ylurner wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stern trying to control but Ylurner is working from the bottom.

Stern drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ylurner dives on top into guard.

Stern is trying to keep Ylurner in close.

Stern throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ylurner uses it to pass to side control.
Stern is looking to reverse the position.

Ylurner stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Ylurner throws a right hand that Stern ducks under and follows up with a left that Stern also avoids with ease.
Stern throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ylurner lands a head shot.
Ylurner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stern goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Ylurner goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Stern looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Ylurner takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Stern shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ylurner as he jumps to the side.
Stern moves away from the strike by Ylurner.
Stern dives in and grabs Ylurner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ylurner pushes down on Stern's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Howard Stern. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stern uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ylurner.
Ylurner stuffs the takedown attempt from Stern. Stern gets slowly back to his feet.
Stern dives in for a single leg takedown but Ylurner sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

A slow jab from Stern misses its intended target.
A combination from Ylurner does no damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ylurner enables Stern to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ylurner manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Schloash Ylurner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Stern walks into a stiff left hand from Ylurner.
Ylurner throws a body punch but Stern moves out of range.
Schloash Ylurner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ylurner scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Ylurner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stern.

Stern closes the distance and pushes Ylurner back into the cage.
Stern jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ylurner walks away with a smile on his face. Stern gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Stern pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stern shoots in for a takedown but Ylurner shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ylurner wants to counter with a clinch but Stern pushes him away.

Ylurner throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stern.
Ylurner throws a nice looking combination but Stern bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Stern takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Ylurner looks to land a combination. Stern sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Ylurner walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ylurner has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Ylurner throws a series of punches but Stern moves out of range.
A punch lands to the side of Ylurner 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Howard Stern seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Ylurner counters with a straight right hand.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ylurner takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Stern tries a head kick but it misses.

Ylurner is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
It looks like Stern has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Ylurner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Stern closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ylurner to the mat! Ylurner manages to get full guard.

Stern drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Ylurner dives on top into guard.

Stern is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ylurner's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ylurner's back!
Ylurner tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Stern is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Ylurner has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Ylurner!

Stern keeping moving, preventing Ylurner from controlling successfully.

Stern is working an open guard so Ylurner takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Stern decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ylurner tries to kick Stern off but Stern keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Stern is looking for submissions but instead, Ylurner has regained full guard.
Ylurner doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Schloash Ylurner.
I think Ylurner has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
