Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pat Hyde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Umaga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pat Hyde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Umaga!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jorge Garcia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Umaga scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hyde is trying to get back to half guard.

Umaga is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hyde knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Umaga prevents Hyde from escaping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hyde is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hyde has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Umaga is on him like a limpet, forcing Hyde back against the cage.

Umaga has picked Hyde up - he's going for a ride! Umaga dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Hyde manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Umaga keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Umaga has momentary wrist control but Hyde slips an elbow through the middle.

Umaga working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hyde doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hyde manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Umaga looks winded!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hyde accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hyde decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Umaga, as that shot connected.
Hyde fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Umaga avoids it really well and circles away.

Hyde takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Umaga throws a right hand that misses

and Hyde counters with a single leg into guard. Umaga didn't expect that.
Hyde throws a big elbow that misses.
Umaga preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hyde's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Hyde chips away with some ground and pound.
Hyde throws a big elbow that misses.
Hyde throwing strikes but missing.
Umaga wants to improve his position but instead Hyde has moved into half guard.

Nice strikes from Hyde there.
Hyde lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Umaga misses with a head kick.

Umaga shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hyde's guard.
Hyde is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Hyde's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Hyde pushes Umaga off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Umaga drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hyde has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Umaga has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Hyde pulls guard successfully.
Hyde wants to sweep here but Umaga controlling him for the moment.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Umaga is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Umaga closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hyde's guard.

Hyde manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Hyde stands up over Umaga, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hyde, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
