Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Liquid Gold and Dixie Small. Liquid Gold is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 wins, 1 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Sydney, Liquid Gold!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 wins, 0 losses and 0 draws, fighting out of Sydney, Dixie Small!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Small clinches up against the cage.
Small misses with a body punch.
Small blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Small has Gold pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Small pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gold tumbling to the mat - Small dives into Gold's guard.
Small looking to pass the guard.
Gold will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Small postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Small tries to free his leg and advance position but Gold is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gold wants to sweep here but Small controlling him for the moment.
Gold bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Small's guard.

Small is trying to keep Gold in close.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gold working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Small is trying to control the position but Gold postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gold slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Small keeping moving, preventing Gold from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gold accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Small controlling Gold's posture.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Small keeping moving, preventing Gold from controlling successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gold showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Small.

Small gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gold controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Gold looking to sit in guard and control but Small gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Small stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gold swivels though and keeps the full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Small accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Small sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Gold's guard.
Small seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Small's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Small trying to mount his opponent but Gold defends it.
Small missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Small is keen to just control but Gold is a slippery customer.
Small thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gold is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Guinness Stout, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Gold is refusing to be controlled, as Small sits in half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Gold avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Small.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Small circles away from the clinch attempt
letting Small counter with a right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dixie Small dominated that round.
That's time! Gold's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Gold fails with an attempt to clinch.

Gold clinches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Small turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Small in side control, throwing shots but Gold defends.
Small working the ground and pound from side control.
Gold tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Small wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Small slows the pace down.
Small working the ground and pound but Gold is defending the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Small tries to move to mount but Gold blocks the move with his legs.
Gold is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gold is not content to let Small control the position.
Gold trying to remain calm as Small controls from the top position.
Small has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Small creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gold sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Gold is looking to reverse the position.

Small is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gold is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Small tries to advance to mount but Gold denies him.
Dixie Small has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Small gets to mount! Gold was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Gold is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gold is trying desperately to improve position.
Small landing strikes from the mount and Gold is in trouble!
Small misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Small is trying to control here but Gold has managed to regain half guard.
Small wants to pass the guard but Gold is defending well.
Small throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Gold to regain full guard.
Small looking to pass the guard.
Small is stalling in the full guard.
Small preventing the sweep.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gold wants to stand up but Small is controlling him.
Small looking to sit in guard and control but Gold gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Small keeping moving, preventing Gold from controlling successfully.
Gold wants to pass the guard but Small is keeping the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gold engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dixie Small showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Small throws a body punch but Gold moves out of range.
Gold tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Small counters with a three punch combo that has Gold backing up. Gold nods at Small to acknowledge the strikes.

Gold has Small up against the cage in a clinch.
Small is trying to drag Gold to the mat but Gold just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Small is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Small turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The referee asks Small politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Small prefers to stall for the moment though.
Gold is not content to let Small control the position.

Gold wants to control but Small postures up.
Small working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Small throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Gold works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Small not doing much here.
Small has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Small frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Small raining down hammerfists from mount.
Gold tries to lock up and control but Small gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Small looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Small looking to finish Gold with some ground and pound. This is bad for Gold!

Small looking to control but Gold is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Dixie Small is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Small wants to control the pace but Gold is squirming around nicely.

Small throwing strikes here but Gold is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Gold is desperately trying to improve his position but Small has a good base and remains in mount.
Liquid Gold has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight!
Dixie Small comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Small winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Dixie Small was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
