Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carlton Goodwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roberto Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlton Goodwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roberto Silva!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Goodwin wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Goodwin is trying to stand up here but Silva is controlling him well.

Silva is working for a kimura but Goodwin is defending it quite comfortably.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Silva is going to stand back up.

Silva is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Goodwin is trying is best to control the position here.

Goodwin manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Silva keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Goodwin wants the takedown. Silva is fighting it off but Goodwin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Silva's guard against the cage.

Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goodwin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Goodwin chips away with some ground and pound.
Goodwin postures up in Silva's guard and throws a big left but Silva blocks it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Silva drives through with a takedown into guard.

Goodwin throws his legs up looking for a submission but Silva uses it to pass to side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Goodwin, who protects the arm well.

Goodwin can't do much from the bottom here.
Goodwin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Silva wants to take a breather but Goodwin manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Silva.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Goodwin is keeping the position.
Goodwin pulls Silva in to control the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Goodwin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Goodwin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Goodwin cracks Silva with a solid left hand.
Goodwin wants to stand and escape but instead Silva has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


Goodwin has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Carlton Goodwin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Silva shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Goodwin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Goodwin wants to get back to his feet but Silva is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Goodwin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Silva has Goodwin in his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goodwin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Silva knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Goodwin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Silva has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Goodwin but great work by Silva.
Roberto Silva has got the better of the ground game so far.

Goodwin throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Goodwin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Silva manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

That was a close second round but I would say that Carlton Goodwin will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Silva wants to counter with a clinch but Goodwin pushes him away.

Goodwin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Goodwin is tightening it up a little... Silva has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Silva reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Silva taps out! Nice BJJ there by Goodwin!
