PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Semmy Kasteel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craig Rave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kasteel comes to the cage accompanied by Celtic Music. The crowd seem to be enjoying Rave's choice of entrance music: What Happened?. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 13 - 2, fighting out of New York, Semmy Kasteel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Craig Rave!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasteel takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Kasteel fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Rave throws a looping overhand right but Kasteel ducks down to avoid it.
Kasteel has been working on his boxing with his coaches at M.V Gym in the buildup to the fight.

Rave shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kasteel keeping full guard, as Rave tries to pass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kasteel wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rave drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kasteel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rave has Kasteel in his guard.

Kasteel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rave on the ground.

Rave controls Kasteel momentarily but Kasteel frees himself.
Rave might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kasteel haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Kasteel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Kasteel trying to control but Rave is working from the bottom.

Kasteel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Rave has his foot on Kasteel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kasteel works his way back into a safe position though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kasteel trying to control the position from guard on top but Rave is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kasteel is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rave is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Our spies down at at Bloodsport Gym 16 Elites inform us that Rave has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Kasteel wants to pass the guard but Rave is keeping the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Rave tries for a takedown but Kasteel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rave shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kasteel defends it nicely.
Rave throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kasteel stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A good leg kick by Rave.
A swing and a miss from Kasteel.
Kasteel is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Rave misses with a low kick.
An inside leg kick from Rave misses.
Kasteel appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Rave swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kasteel swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Rave uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kasteel.
Rave finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Rave displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kasteel throws out the jab.
Kasteel misses the shot to the body.
Craig Rave seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kasteel ducks under a wild hook from Rave.

Kasteel takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Rave connects with a jab.
Kasteel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rave.
Rave tries to bum rush Kasteel with a series of wild strikes but Kasteel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rave slips a jab from Kasteel.
Rave throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Rave throws the kick towards the body but Kasteel avoids it.
Kasteel throwing a counter right hand but Rave manages to avoid it.
Kasteel scores with a nice head shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Semmy Kasteel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Craig Rave.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rave throws an off balance right hand
and Kasteel counters with a stiff right hand.
Rave throws a looping overhand right but Kasteel ducks down to avoid it.
Rave keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Craig Rave will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Kasteel cracks Rave on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Rave falls backwards against the cage. Kasteel follows up with more strikes that drop Rave to his knees. Kasteel keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Rave! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Semmy Kasteel!
In his post fight interview, Semmy Kasteel started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
