PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shit Face (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Camatta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Face comes to the cage accompanied by Blue clear sky. Antonio Camatta told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Shit Face!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Antonio Camatta!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Face shoots in for a takedown but Camatta shows good takedown defense.
Camatta misses with a looping right.
Face feinted with a counter takedown.
Face moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Camatta throws the left hand but Face avoids the punch easily.
Nice sprawl there from Camatta as Face shoots in.
Face avoids a punch combination nicely.
Camatta tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Face was well out of range. Poor timing from Camatta.
Camatta cracks Face with an open hand slap.


It looks like Shit Face has been cut.
Face takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Face moves in looking to clinch but Camatta pushes him off.
Camatta defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Face.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shit Face. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Camatta throws a looping overhand right but Face ducks down to avoid it.
Camatta misses with a jab, cross combination.
Face closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Camatta has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Face checks a leg kick.
Face fails with a takedown attempt.
Camatta closes this distance looking for a takedown but Face circles away.
As Camatta backs away, Face returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Face throws a sloppy head kick and Camatta moves out of range easily.
Camatta wants to counter the offense by Face and move into the clinch position.
A looping hook to the body misses from Camatta. Face does a little dance to reset his feet.
A cross from Camatta lands.
Camatta leaves Face with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Camatta looks to score with a jab to the body but Face is just out of range.
Face drops down looking for a counter takedown but Camatta sprawls and moves away.
Face goes for a double leg but Camatta avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Camatta continues to drive forward.
Camatta lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Camatta misses with a few strikes there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Face counters with a takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Face is trying to get an arm triangle but Camatta is defending well.
Camatta is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Face wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Camatta, who protects the arm well.
Face is looking to take a break and control but Camatta is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Camatta manages to get back to half guard.

Face wants to work for an arm triangle but Camatta is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Face missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Camatta is looking to improve his position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Face wants to take a breather but Camatta is having none of it.
Camatta makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Camatta.
Face trying to control but Camatta is working from the bottom.

Camatta keeping moving, preventing Face from controlling successfully.
Face throws an elbow that misses. Camatta uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Face's guard. Nice move by Camatta!

Camatta scores with the left hand. Face knows he should have avoided that one.
Camatta tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Face was well out of range. Poor timing from Camatta.

Face shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Face showed some decent athleticism there.
Face trying to mount his opponent but Camatta defends it.
Face misses with a head shot. Camatta uses the momentum to regain guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Face trying to control the position from guard on top but Camatta is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Camatta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Face is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Camatta had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Face defends it easily.
Camatta has Face pulled in close to control his posture.
Face stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Camatta swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Face trying to control but Camatta is working from the bottom.
Shit Face overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Camatta keeping full guard, as Face tries to pass.
Camatta is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Camatta slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

and Face counters with a nice double leg into side control. Camatta won't be happy with that.
Face just content to control the position.

Camatta is trying to get back to half guard.
Face wants to lay and pray for a moment but Camatta keeps working.

Face is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Camatta has escaped the position, nice work there.
Camatta tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Face wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Face lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Face is looking to take a break and control but Camatta is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Face tries for a kimura but Camatta is defending well.

Face goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Camatta has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Face but great work by Camatta.
Camatta looks up at the clock and then as Face takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Camatta smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Face gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Face tries to roll over but Camatta keeps him under control.
Face manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shit Face dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Shit Face's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Face changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Antonio Camatta seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Camatta bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Face parries the strikes from Camatta easily there. Camatta is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Face to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Face is working to avoid the ground and pound but Camatta connects with a decent elbow.

Camatta moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Face being controlled for a moment.
Face is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Camatta off and has taken his back!

Face is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Camatta has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Camatta tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Camatta has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Face controlling the position easily from mount.

Face is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Camatta has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Camatta!

Camatta wants to control from the top but Face keeps moving.
Face not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Face keeping moving, preventing Camatta from controlling successfully.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Camatta stands up over Face, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Face preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Face drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Face wants to control from the top but Camatta keeps moving.
Face postures up and lands a big shot to Camatta's brow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Antonio Camatta comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Camatta has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
