The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jonson tries to close the distance and clinch but Poulter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Poulter attempts a counter takedown but Jonson avoids it well and moves away.

Jonson has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.

Poulter makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Jonson tries a knee to the head but Poulter blocks it.
Poulter's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Poulter has Jonson pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Poulter pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jonson tumbling to the mat - Poulter dives into Jonson's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Poulter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Poulter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Poulter is working to tighten his grip on Jonson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Jonson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Poulter is really squeezing tight and eventually Jonson passes out! Poulter breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
