The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newtons tries a low kick but Anderson avoids it.
As Newtons tries to get set, Anderson tries to push him back and clinch up but Newtons manages to avoid the attempt.
Newtons throws an off balance right hand
and Anderson counters with a left and a right that stings Newtons.

Anderson takes the fight into the clinch.
Anderson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Newtons lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Anderson lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Anderson goes for a takedown attempt but Newtons pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Anderson moves into the clinch successfully.
Anderson content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Anderson lands an elbow just above Newtons 's eye.
Newtons being controlled against the cage.

Anderson successfully pulls guard.
Anderson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Newtons tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Anderson manages to move to mount!

Newtons is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Newtons can do anything to dispel that myth.
Anderson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Newtons's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Anderson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Newtons is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Newtons really wants to buck Anderson off and get back to his feet.

Anderson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Newtons throws out the jab.

Fig Newtons seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Newtons must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Newtons throws an elbow that misses. Anderson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Newtons's guard. Nice move by Anderson!

Anderson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Newtons is wriggling around but Anderson manages to pass to half guard.
George Anderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Still in half guard, Anderson seems content to control.
Newtons is looking to get back to is feet but Anderson passes into side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Newtons tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Newtons wants to get back to his feet.
I would not like to be Newtons right now.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Anderson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Newtons jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Anderson blocks the body kick.
Newtons throws a head kick that misses.
Newtons throws a sloppy head kick
and Anderson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Newtons pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Newtons moves into the clinch successfully.
Anderson stalling the fight.
Anderson throws a head punch that misses.
Anderson keeps control of Newtons as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Anderson effectively controlling the action here.

Anderson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Newtons seems a little lost for a moment, as Anderson dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Newtons is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Anderson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Newtons tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Anderson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Newtons squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Anderson won't let Newtons get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
