Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Barrett Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 20 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Lucas!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas misses with a head kick.
Johnson checks a leg kick.
Johnson appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Lucas scores with a head kick. Johnson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


It looks like Barrett Johnson has been cut.
Lucas tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Lucas lands a jab.
Lucas tries to score with a low kick but Johnson moves his leg out of the way.
Johnson fails with a takedown attempt.
Lucas appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Lucas misses with a low kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lucas defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Johnson.
Lucas uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Johnson.
Lucas throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

and Lucas counters with a nice low kick that buckles Johnson's knee momentarily.

Lucas takes a jab right on the kisser.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Barrett Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nice sprawl there from Lucas as Johnson shoots in.
Despite the aggression on Lucas's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Lucas pushes Johnson away with a front kick.
Johnson looks to land a combination but Lucas avoids it well.
A bone on bone clash there as Johnson blocks the leg kick.
Johnson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Lucas sprawls and moves away.

Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Lucas tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lucas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lucas throws out a counter right but Johnson avoids it with no problem.
Lucas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Johnson manages to avoid it.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lucas napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lucas gets back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lucas is not content to let Johnson control the position.

Johnson is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Lucas to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Lucas is looking to stand back up but Johnson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Lucas.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Johnson connects with a nice short shot to Lucas's temple.
Lucas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson is keen to just control but Lucas is a slippery customer.

Johnson wants to work for an arm triangle but Lucas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lucas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Johnson is trying to control. Lucas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Johnson seems to be looking for submissions.
Johnson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Johnson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Lucas won't allow Johnson to pass to mount.
Lucas wants to improve his position but Johnson is controlling well.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Lucas is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Travis Lucas will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Johnson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lucas's head backwards.
Lucas misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Johnson.

and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lucas won't be happy with that.
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lucas keeps working.

Johnson tries to advance to mount but Lucas denies him.

Johnson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Lucas is trying to get back to half guard.
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Lucas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Johnson has knee on belly momentarily but Lucas bucks him off and regains half guard.

Johnson is looking for a kimura but Lucas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lucas avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Johnson.

Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Lucas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Johnson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Lucas wants to hold on but Johnson pushes him away.
Johnson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Johnson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lucas because Johnson loaded up on that one.

Johnson postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Lucas in real trouble here! The ref calls for Lucas to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Barrett Johnson!
A very excited looking Barrett Johnson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
