The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roos fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fanning, pushing him back against the cage.
Roos wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Fanning keeps control of Roos as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Fanning is trying to push Roos away but Roos has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Roos breaks from the clinch.
Fanning moves out of range as Roos throws a body kick.
Fanning tries to counter with a takedown but Roos is quick to defend against it.
The crowd cheers as Roos lands an impressive looking overhand right. Fanning doesn't seem phased though.
Roos connects with a single shot there.
Jab, jab by Fanning - just one landing.
Roos swats away the attempt to clinch by Fanning.

Oooh a lovely combination from Roos sends Fanning down but not out. Roos dives into side control looking to finish.

It looks like Sanford Fanning has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fanning swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Fanning throws an overhand right that lands on Roos's shoulder, as Roos tries to avoid the shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kanga Roos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Roos rushes Fanning and presses him up against the cage.

Fanning throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Roos tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fanning defends well and Roos ends up having to push Fanning into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Fanning lands a nice shot to the body.
Roos bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Roos lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Fanning just misses with a punch to the body.
Fanning throws a hook to the side of Roos's head but Roos sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Fanning throws out a loose jab but Roos uses good head movement to avoid it.
Roos fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fanning.
Fanning misses with a straight left.
Roos throws a nice looking combination but Fanning bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Roos needs to keep his hands up - Fanning had a free shot at his head there.
Roos tries to clinch up but Fanning circles away and keeps his distance.

Roos has taken the fight to the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fanning pushes Roos back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Fanning wants to break the clinch but can't.
Roos blocks an uppercut.

Fanning escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fanning tries to move into range but Roos moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Roos misses with a few strikes there.
Roos throws a leg kick that is checked
and Fanning counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Roos shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Fanning eats them both and turns towards Roos to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Roos ducks under a wild hook from Fanning.
Fanning lands a jab to the head.
Fanning misses with an uppercut. Roos saw that one coming.
Roos blocks a jab.
Roos throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Roos swinging wildly here.
Roos pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Fanning back to the cage. Roos follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Roos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fanning is working to avoid the ground and pound but Roos connects with a decent elbow.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Roos working the strikes but Fanning uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
