And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tshering Wangchuck!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wangchuck moves into the clinch.
Wangchuck is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Makatua is defending well for now.

It looks like Sam Makatua has been cut.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Wangchuck.
Wangchuck with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Makatua lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Makatua tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Wangchuck avoids it.
Wangchuck crunches a lovely knee into Makatua's ribcage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wangchuck pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.

Wangchuck lands a nice elbow.
I was talking to Makatua's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Wangchuck blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Wangchuck crunches a lovely knee into Makatua's ribcage.
Makatua is looking to break free of the clinch but Wangchuck has double underhooks.
Wangchuck lands an elbow that stopped Makatua in his tracks for a moment.


Sam Makatua's cut is getting worse.
Wangchuck managing to block the knees to the body from Makatua.
Makatua is trying to break the clinch but Wangchuck is controlling him.
Makatua wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Wangchuck has him pressed against the ropes.
Makatua wants to break free but Wangchuck has control.

Wangchuck drops Makatua on his ass with a big knee up the middle! Makatua bounces straight back to his feet before the referee can even start a count. We'll have to wait a moment to see if that actually hurt him or not, as he takes the standing 8 count.


Sam Makatua's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Wangchuck wants to stall.

Jeez, Sam Makatua's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Wangchuck is holding Makatua round the back of the neck and unloading with elbows! Boom, boom, boom! 3 big elbows land right to the bridge of the nose and Makatua goes down! Oh, his nose is a mess! I'm not sure he's going to beat the count... 4,5,6,7,8,9,10. He's done! Wangchuck takes it and Makatua is going to the hospital to get that nose checked out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Elbows). Tshering Wangchuck!
A very excited looking Tshering Wangchuck made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
