PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Massa Hurmaaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renato Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hurmaaja is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gracie's half guard.

Hurmaaja drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gracie looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gracie looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gracie!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hurmaaja is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.

Hurmaaja is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gracie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hurmaaja is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gracie, into his guard.

Gracie wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Hurmaaja is now in half guard.

Hurmaaja slips a nice elbow through Gracie's hands, connecting with Gracie's forehead.
Hurmaaja looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gracie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hurmaaja takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hurmaaja winds up and cracks Gracie with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hurmaaja lands a nice short elbow.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Hurmaaja closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Gracie takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Hurmaaja is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Gracie is trying to escape and Hurmaaja transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Gracie is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hurmaaja! Very nice indeed!
