Burns has chosen Wanted Dead or Alive as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Selfrid Bergman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Burns!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns misses with a series of wild punches.
Bergman moves out of range as Burns throws a body kick.
Burns throws a jab but it's blocked by Bergman.

Burns gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Burns's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Burns clinches with his opponent.
Bergman tries for a takedown. No joy.
Burns lands a nice uppercut.

It looks like Selfrid Bergman has been cut.
Burns working hard to break the clinch.

Bergman gets a trip takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The fighters are battling for position here. Burns manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Bergman postures up in Burns's guard and throws a big left but Burns blocks it.
Bergman throws an elbow that misses. Burns uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bergman's guard. Nice move by Burns!

Burns stopping the sweep attempt from Bergman.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Burns trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Burns wants to stand but Bergman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Bergman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Burns defends well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bergman holds on and takes a little breather.
Burns tries to stand but Bergman is controlling from the bottom.
Burns won't allow Bergman to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bergman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bergman lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Burns closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Burns lands with a right to the head.
Burns misses with the head strike.

Bergman lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bergman lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Burns tries to roll over but Bergman keeps him under control.
Bergman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Burns can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bergman drops an elbow to the side of Burns's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burns is staying active underneath Bergman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burns is not content to let Bergman control the position.
Burns is positioning himself well to prevent Bergman advancing to mount.
Burns trying to hold on to Bergman's head to control him but Bergman postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bergman takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Derek Burns will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Selfrid Bergman's cut.
That's time! Bergman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Burns slips a jab from Bergman.

Bergman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Burns tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bergman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bergman misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Burns is trying to get back to half guard.
The strikes coming from Bergman are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bergman working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Bergman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Burns has escaped the position, nice work there.
Bergman advances to full mount.

Bergman prevents Burns from getting the reversal.
Bergman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Burns is looking to escape.
The referee warns Burns that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Burns really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bergman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Burns tries to hold on but Bergman postures up.
Bergman scoring with strikes but Burns is staying in there.
Bergman breaks from Burns's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Burns is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Bergman throwing strikes here but Burns is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Bergman has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Burns is forced to tap!
