And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Matheus!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maki pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've been told by Maki's head coaches at Cozad MMA Tokyo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Matheus closes the distance and clinches.

Matheus's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Matheus blocks a head kick by Maki.
Maki tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Matheus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
We've been informed that Matheus has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Maki slips a jab and a cross from Matheus.
Maki takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
A head kick misses from Maki.
Maki is breathing heavily.
Maki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Matheus throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Maki is rocked!
Matheus will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Oh Maki is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A combination from Matheus does no damage.

Matheus moves into range and connects with a jab.
Matheus lands with a right that hurts Maki. Maki looks to clinch but Matheus throws a short knee that drops Maki. This one is all over!
