Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roger Cantor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter has chosen I'm Shipping Up To Boston as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Roger Cantor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunter gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cantor to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hunter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Cantor looking to pass the guard.
Hunter has Cantor pulled in close to control his posture.
Cantor stands and throws Hunter's legs to the side, diving into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunter stops Cantor from passing to mount.
Hunter regains half guard, as Cantor was trying to land strikes.
Hunter is refusing to be controlled, as Cantor sits in half guard.

Hunter regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cantor working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hunter's head.
Cantor tries to free his leg and advance position but Hunter is retaining full guard.
Cantor is pushing down on Hunter's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hunter is fighting to maintain full guard but Cantor has managed to sneak the leg through.

Cantor stands and throws Hunter's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hunter wants to control but Cantor postures up.
Cantor gets to mount! Hunter was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cantor breaks from Hunter's wrist control and lands an elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cantor scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Hunter can't escape the position.
Cantor tries to control but Hunter wriggling away.
Cantor is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hunter is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hunter is desperately trying to improve his position but Cantor has a good base and remains in mount.
Hunter avoids a series of strikes thrown by Cantor.

Cantor with shots to the head and body - Hunter looks very uncomfortable down there.
Hunter sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hunter is staying active underneath Cantor, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hunter is looking for a sweep. Cantor is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hunter trying to hold on to Cantor's head to control him but Cantor postures up.
Cantor is trying to control. Hunter wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Hunter is controlling Cantor's trapped leg to prevent Cantor from advancing to side control.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cantor gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hunter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cantor is one step ahead there.
Cantor cracks Hunter with a solid left hand.
Cantor forces his way into half guard.
Hunter gets back to full guard.
Cantor throws a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cantor uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Hunter scores with a crisp jab that stopped Cantor in his tracks.

Cantor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Cantor is looking to take a break and control but Hunter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hunter gets back to half guard.
Cantor is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hunter can do to turn this around?
Cantor is keen to just control but Hunter is a slippery customer.

Hunter is looking to control Cantor's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hunter avoid being mounted?
Hunter holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Hunter is trying to maintain the position but Cantor is very close to passing his half guard.
Cantor is pressing down on Hunter's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hunter is holding on for now.
Cantor is trying to control the action in half guard but Hunter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cantor is really struggling to control Hunter but he's trying to hold on to the position.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Hunter has his foot on Cantor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cantor works his way back into a safe position though.
Cantor is looking to work some ground and pound but Hunter has wrist control.

Hunter is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cantor defends well.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Hunter misses with a straight left.
Cantor showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hunter.
Hunter throws a sloppy head kick and Cantor moves out of range easily.
Cantor was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Cantor tries for a takedown but Hunter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hunter closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hunter landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Hunter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hunter prevents Cantor from improving his position.

Hunter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cantor's head.

Cantor is looking to improve his position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cantor wants to sweep here but Hunter controlling him for the moment.
Hunter is looking to work some ground and pound but Cantor has wrist control.
Hunter wants to pass the guard but Cantor is keeping the position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hunter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Cantor changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hunter tries to avoid it but Cantor manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hunter to the ground. Hunter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hunter drives through with a takedown into Cantor's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cantor is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Cantor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hunter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hunter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hunter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Justin Hunter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Hunter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hunter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cantor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hunter is doing well to control the position and prevent Cantor from advancing to side control.

I think Cantor has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
