The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tomas.
Turgeon drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Tomas defends it well.
Tomas looks to land a combination but Turgeon avoids it well.
Tomas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Turgeon as he jumps to the side.
And Turgeon tries to counter it with a takedown but Tomas pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Tomas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Turgeon circles away.

Tomas swings around for an armbar but Turgeon sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Tomas's guard.

Turgeon is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tomas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tomas has escaped and now he's on top!

Tomas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Turgeon wants to sweep but no luck.
Tomas trying to control but Turgeon is working from the bottom.
Tomas has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Tomas pushes down on Turgeon's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Tomas has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Turgeon is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Turgeon lands a leg kick that knocks Tomas off balance momentarily.

Tomas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Tomas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Turgeon tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tomas is in Turgeon's guard.

Tomas stands up over Turgeon, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Turgeon is trying to control the position but Tomas postures up.

Tomas is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Turgeon is surviving well by controlling Tomas's body position as best he can.
Turgeon sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tomas tries to pass to full mount but Turgeon defends it.
Tomas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Turgeon can do to turn this around?

Turgeon sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Tomas doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Turgeon paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Tomas - great work!
