The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Watson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gomez to the mat! Gomez manages to get full guard.

Gomez throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Gomez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Watson on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Watson gets to his feet. Gomez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Gomez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gomez is defended easily by Watson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
