Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dan Eggman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Casimiro Ambrogi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Casimiro Ambrogi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eggman tries to clinch

and Ambrogi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Eggman's guard.
Eggman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Ambrogi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Eggman wants to sweep but no luck.

Ambrogi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ambrogi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ambrogi is fighting to break Eggman's control of his arms but Eggman is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Eggman wants to get back to his feet.

Ambrogi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Eggman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Eggman parries the strikes from Ambrogi easily there. Ambrogi is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Eggman to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ambrogi throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Ambrogi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Eggman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Ambrogi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ambrogi.
Ambrogi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Ambrogi wants to control the position but Eggman says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Eggman is keen to just control but Ambrogi is a slippery customer.

Eggman is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Eggman stands up out of the half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Eggman moves into range and clinches up with Ambrogi.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Ambrogi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Eggman tries to clinch but Ambrogi is having none of it.
Eggman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ambrogi.

Eggman shoots for a takedown but Ambrogi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Eggman shoots for a double leg takedown but Ambrogi sprawls well. He's pushed Eggman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Eggman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ambrogi's waist but Ambrogi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Eggman off to one side.

Eggman swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Eggman goes for a double leg but Ambrogi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ambrogi continues to drive forward.

Eggman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Eggman trying to control the position from guard on top but Ambrogi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Eggman stands and steps away. Ambrogi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Eggman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ambrogi tries to avoid it but Eggman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ambrogi to the ground. Ambrogi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Eggman shoots in for a double leg but Ambrogi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Casimiro Ambrogi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ambrogi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Eggman haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Eggman tries to escape the position.

Eggman is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.

Eggman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Eggman works to advance to full mount. Ambrogi defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dan Eggman.
I think Ambrogi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
