PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Astolfo Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jannero Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Walker's choice of entrance music: Rotting Out - Bangarang. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jannero Walker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Astolfo Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jannero Walker!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Valeri Chadov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in but Walker avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Silva clinches up against the cage.
Silva prevents the takedown attempt.

Silva breaks the clinch.
Silva looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Walker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Walker staying calm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Silva is letting Walker control him for a moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Walker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Silva is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Walker controls the position from side control.
Silva prevents Walker from improving position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Silva is being controlled here.
Silva tries to escape but Walker is in control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Walker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Silva is trying to defend but Walker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Silva is defending against the submission attempts here by Walker.

Walker shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Walker showed some decent athleticism there.
Walker is controlling the pace.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Still in half guard, Walker seems content to control.
Silva is looking to escape.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Walker is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Walker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Walker wants it to stay on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva throws a series of punches but Walker moves out of range.
Walker is looking for the big counter here.
Walker has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Walker changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Walker is continuing to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jannero Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


A low kick from Silva misses

and Walker counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.
Walker is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Walker decides to stand back up.
Walker has a takedown stuffed.
Astolfo Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva throws a big shot that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've been informed that Walker has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Walker's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
More stalling from Walker.
Let's hope that Walker has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silva throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Silva tries a head kick but it misses.
Silva tries to clinch but Walker moves out of range.
Walker wants to counter with a clinch but Silva pushes him away.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away.
Astolfo Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jannero Walker.
Walker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Walker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Walker off to one side.
Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Silva misses with a two punch combination.

Silva gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Silva might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Silva wants to sweep but no luck.
Walker advances to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Walker is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jannero Walker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Walker winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
