The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koira lands with a straight right. Nix didn't see that one coming.
Nix has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Bloodsport Gym 16 Elites in the buildup to the fight.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nix.
Koira looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Nix keeps Koira at a distance using the push kick.
Koira slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nix motions for Koira to come forward. Nix throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nix tries to land a front kick but Koira steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Koira throws out a loose jab but Nix uses good head movement to avoid it.

A looping hook to the body misses from Koira. Nix does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Koira counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Nix misses with a takedown
and Koira cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Koira jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nix darts in looking for a takedown but Koira gets double underhooks and turns Nix into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Nix. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Crunch! Nix slams his shin into Koira's torso.
Nix throws a low kick but Koira avoids it.
Koira now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Nix throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Nix throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Koira flicks out a counter leg kick but Nix steps away.
Koira tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nix misses with a head kick.
Nix throws a big shot that misses.
The fighters circling - Nix throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nix misses with an attempted mid kick.
Koira defending well as Nix loads up on a big left hand.

Nix tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koira was well out of range. Poor timing from Nix.
Koira throws the left hand but Nix avoids the punch easily.
Nix takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

and Koira counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Nix uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Koira.
Nix feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Nix goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Nix tries to clinch but Koira is having none of it.
Koira lands a jab to Nix's midsection.
Nix misses with a body shot
enabling Koira to counter with a crisp jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nix.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Koira cracks Nix with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Nix is rocked!
Koira walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Nix drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Koira swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Nix's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karri Koira!
An out of breath Karri Koira thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
