Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danilo Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blake Griffin will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Griffin jumps guard.

Griffin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Griffin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Griffin has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Reed has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Griffin manages to pull guard.
Reed loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Griffin is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Reed defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Reed is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Griffin gets his way!

Griffin keeps the fight on the outside.
Reed really is a fat lump.
Reed shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Reed feints and as Griffin raises his hands in defense, Reed changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Griffin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Griffin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Reed went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reed swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Griffin drives through with a takedown into guard.

Griffin gets to his feet. Reed looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Reed throws a series of punches but Griffin moves out of range.
Reed circles away from the clinch attempt.
Reed went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Reed checks a leg kick.
Griffin scores with a jab to the head.

Griffin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Reed tries to roll over but Griffin keeps him under control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Griffin not landing any meaningful shots this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blake Griffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Griffin.
Griffin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Griffin goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Reed has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Griffin but great work by Reed.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Griffin. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Griffin wants to control the position but Reed says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Griffin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Griffin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Reed landing with the ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Griffin looks to land a combination but Reed avoids it well.
Reed tries to counter with a takedown but Griffin is quick to defend against it.
Reed fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Reed lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Griffin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Reed manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Reed will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Griffin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Reed shoots in for a takedown but Griffin shows good takedown defense.
Griffin with the counter takedown but Reed avoids it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Griffin tries to clinch there but Reed circles away.
Danilo Reed has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Blake Griffin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Griffin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
