Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Master Yi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Ridgway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Master Yi - By Riot. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Master Yi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gary Ridgway!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ridgway takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Ridgway scores with a takedown into Yi's guard.

Yi looking for a guillotine here but Ridgway defends easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ridgway lands with a nice body punch.
Ridgway shoots and misses
and Yi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Master Yi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ridgway misses with an uppercut. Yi saw that one coming.
Ridgway does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Yi has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Yi there as he acknowledges the shot.
Ridgway tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Yi throws a big counter combination but Ridgway scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Gary Ridgway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yi tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

and Yi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Yi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ridgway.

Ridgway connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Yi's hands.
Yi looks to land a right hand but Ridgway moved out of range.
Yi throws a solid leg kick but Ridgway takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Yi.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ridgway seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ridgway wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yi, who protects the arm well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ridgway wants to lay and pray for a moment but Yi keeps working.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ridgway shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Yi as he avoids it easily.
Ridgway throws the kick towards the body but Yi avoids it.
Yi is looking to counter punch.
Yi closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Nice straight punches there by Ridgway. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ridgway.

Ridgway wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ridgway tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yi was well out of range. Poor timing from Ridgway.
Gary Ridgway seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ridgway misses the shot to the body.
A quick step to the side and Yi tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ridgway has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ridgway misses with a straight left.

Yi is fighting to break Ridgway's control of his arms but Ridgway is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Yi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ridgway works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Yi trying to control the position from guard on top but Ridgway is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Our spies down at at House of 1000 Corpses inform us that Ridgway has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ridgway is pulling down on Yi's head. It's preventing any offense from Yi, at least for the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Yi scores with a jab to the body.
Good leg kick by Yi there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Ridgway throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Yi throws a hook to the side of Ridgway's head but Ridgway sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Yi is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Yi moves out of range of the strikes.

and Yi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Gary Ridgway has been cut.
Ridgway thuds a left hand into Yi's body.
Yi misses with a low kick.
Yi lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ridgway pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Yi back to the cage. Ridgway follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

and Ridgway counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Yi! He's just covering up as Ridgway starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gary Ridgway!

In defeat, Master Yi stepped up to the mic, saying 'Your skills were superior!'.
