PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nicodemo Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Lennox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Romero comes into the arena with Lords Of Salem blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ray Lennox!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lennox walks into a jab.

It looks like Ray Lennox has been cut.
Romero throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lennox counters with a nice uppercut.
Lennox looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Romero uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lennox.
Nicodemo Romero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lennox misses with a low kick.
An attempted straight right counter from Romero misses the target.

Romero connects with the punch.
Lennox just misses with a punch to the body.
Romero throws a shot from downtown. Lennox moves away and avoids it.

Romero tests Lennox's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Romero stalks Lennox and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lennox's face. Lennox staggers backwards, shaken.

Romero tries to bum rush Lennox with a series of wild strikes but Lennox uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Lennox fakes the leg kick and cracks Romero in the body.
Romero takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Nicodemo Romero has been cut.

Romero closes the distance and clinches up with Lennox, looking for a takedown. Romero pushes Lennox against the cage but Lennox circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Lennox throws the kick towards the body but Romero avoids it.

Lennox lands a leg kick that knocks Romero off balance momentarily.

Romero rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lennox moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Lennox counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Lennox controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Lennox working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Romero's head.
Romero utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Lennox is in close to Romero's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Romero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Romero seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Lennox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Romero swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Romero is on top in guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Romero wants to hit a switch here but Lennox passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Romero there!
Romero is in all sorts of trouble here.
