PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danilo Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robinson has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danilo Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Robinson!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Robinson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Reed!
Robinson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reed keeps working.
Reed is trying to improve his position.
Reed wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Reed is trying to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robinson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Robinson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Reed.
Robinson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Reed checks a low kick from Robinson.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Reed blocks a head kick by Robinson.

Robinson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Robinson breaks from the clinch.

Robinson drives through with a takedown into Reed's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Reed being controlled here, momentarily.
Reed wants to improve his position but instead Robinson has moved into half guard.
Robinson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Reed knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Robinson with the ground and pound but Reed uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Reed wants to sweep but no luck.
Robinson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Robinson wants to stand but Reed has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Robinson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reed is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Robinson, into his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Robinson tries to strike from the bottom.

Robinson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Reed defends well.
Robinson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Reed is controlling him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Reed throwing strikes from guard but Robinson blocks nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Robinson dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Reed tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Robinson swivels and escapes.

Robinson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Robinson is trying to work for a kimura but Reed is defending well.

Reed wants to improve his position but Robinson is controlling well.

Reed tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Robinson has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

It looks like Danilo Reed has been cut.
Robinson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Danilo Reed's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Robinson manages to capitalize on a mistake by Reed to take his back!

Robinson biding his time, looking for the opening.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Robinson working for a choke but Reed reverses nicely into Robinson 's guard.

Robinson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Robinson is trying to keep Reed in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Robinson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Danilo Reed's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Reed closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Robinson quickly recovers to half guard.
Reed throwing shots but Robinson is blocking nicely.

Reed is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Robinson sees it coming and defends easily.
Robinson pushes Reed off looking to stand but Reed dives back in and keeps control.
Robinson gets full guard.
Robinson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reed throws an elbow that misses. Robinson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Reed's guard. Nice move by Robinson!

Robinson is looking to stand up but Reed won't let him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Robinson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Robinson scoring with punches to the head and body.
Robinson slips nicely into half guard.
Robinson drops an elbow to the side of Reed's head.
Robinson uses his free foot to push down on Reed's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Reed.

Robinson moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Reed has worked his arm free - good work by Reed!
Robinson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Reed is looking to reverse the position.
Robinson lands some shots froms side control.


Jeez, Danilo Reed's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Danilo Reed's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Eric Robinson!
A very excited looking Eric Robinson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
