Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tommy MacKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fredrik Meduza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacKenzie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kettel - My Dogan . Meduza has chosen Buffalo Soldier as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fredrik Meduza!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacKenzie checks a leg kick.
Meduza cracks a nice hook into MacKenzie's ribs.
MacKenzie throws a big shot that misses.
MacKenzie tries to clinch but Meduza is having none of it.
A slapping leg kick lands for Meduza.
MacKenzie is looking to clinch.
Meduza misses with a hook.
Meduza takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
A head kick misses from Meduza.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
MacKenzie lands with a slapping head kick.
Meduza ducks down and throws a hook to the body but MacKenzie moves away.
Meduza avoids a kick to the body.
Meduza bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

MacKenzie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
It seemed like Meduza was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Meduza moves out of range as MacKenzie throws a body kick.
Meduza thumps MacKenzie with a low kick.
Meduza stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from MacKenzie.
A chopping leg kick lands by Meduza.
Meduza stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

A jab-cross combination lands for MacKenzie and sends Meduza crashing to the mat! MacKenzie follows him down to the mat - Meduza regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

It looks like Fredrik Meduza has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Meduza is controlling MacKenzie's trapped leg to prevent MacKenzie from advancing to side control.
Meduza is still in real trouble! Can MacKenzie finish him?
Meduza is not content to let MacKenzie control the position.
Meduza seems to have recovered his senses.
Meduza is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of MacKenzie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take MacKenzie's back!

Meduza is working the ground and pound. Can MacKenzie escape?
You can see the frustration on MacKenzie's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

MacKenzie wants to control his opponent's hands but Meduza gets his hands free.

Meduza is trying to stick to MacKenzie's back but MacKenzie is turning into Meduza. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Meduza's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by MacKenzie.

MacKenzie is looking to work some ground and pound but Meduza has wrist control.
MacKenzie forces his way into half guard.
Meduza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Meduza moves into full guard.
MacKenzie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Meduza is keeping the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fredrik Meduza will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


MacKenzie works Meduza's body with a nice hook.
MacKenzie misses with an uppercut. Meduza saw that one coming.
Tommy MacKenzie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Meduza takes a shot to the body in his stride.
An inside leg kick from MacKenzie misses.

MacKenzie was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from MacKenzie - that will leave a mark!
A looping hook to the body misses from MacKenzie. Meduza does a little dance to reset his feet.
MacKenzie swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Meduza walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

MacKenzie closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Meduza to the mat! Meduza manages to get full guard.
MacKenzie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Meduza looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Even with his hooks in, MacKenzie manages to miss with strikes from the back.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
MacKenzie is landing with strikes. Meduza can't take much more of this.

MacKenzie keeps control of the position as Meduza tries to break free.

MacKenzie is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Meduza knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Meduza for a finish.
Meduza tries to escape but MacKenzie has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Meduza is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get MacKenzie off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

MacKenzie connects with a leg kick. Meduza looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

MacKenzie throws a combination that misses

and Meduza counters with a crisp one two that drops MacKenzie! Meduza thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves MacKenzie to his feet! MacKenzie is in big trouble!

Meduza throws a sloppy head kick and MacKenzie moves out of range easily.
MacKenzie lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
MacKenzie connects with a single shot there.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from MacKenzie.
Meduza now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
MacKenzie misses with a wild body shot.
Meduza throws out a counter right but MacKenzie avoids it with no problem.
A solid leg kick lands there for Meduza.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Meduza throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

MacKenzie is looking to slow Meduza down with leg kicks.
Tommy MacKenzie is winning the standup battle so far.
Meduza thows a left - swing and a miss!
Meduza misses with a hook.
MacKenzie misses with a hook
and MacKenzie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
MacKenzie tries to close the distance and clinch but Meduza swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
MacKenzie thuds his shin into the meat of Meduza's side.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts MacKenzie, as that shot connected.
Meduza fails to land the takedown.
MacKenzie connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

MacKenzie takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Meduza throws a leg kick but MacKenzie sees it coming and checks it nicely.
MacKenzie looks to land a left hand but Meduza moved out of range nicely.
MacKenzie missing with a left hand there. Meduza was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Meduza takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

MacKenzie uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Meduza.
MacKenzie finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Meduza keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Meduza connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed MacKenzie momentarily.

Meduza has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Tommy MacKenzie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

MacKenzie is looking to work some ground and pound but Meduza has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tommy MacKenzie.
Well MacKenzie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
