Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rich Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kris Kross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rich Junior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kris Kross!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kross tries for a takedown but Junior sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Junior went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Kross gets caught flat footed, as Junior shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Kross keeping moving, preventing Junior from controlling successfully.
Junior pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kross is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kross utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Junior missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Junior throws a big right hand that misses.
Junior looking to pass the guard.
Junior wants to control from the top but Kross keeps moving.

Junior stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kross swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Junior looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Junior fails with the takedown.
Kross throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Junior manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kross on his heels. He'll look to pass Kross's guard now, I'm sure.
Junior has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Junior wants to control from the top but Kross keeps moving.

Junior slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Junior is fighting to break Kross's control of his arms but Kross is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Junior rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kross moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kross looks for a takedown but Junior sprawls well.
Kross has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Junior is landing a low percentage of strikes.
A nice combination there by Junior.


It looks like Kris Kross has been cut.

Kross steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Junior.
Junior swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Junior shoots in for a double leg but Kross sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kross comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Kross cracks Junior with an open hand slap.
A looping hook to the body misses from Junior. Kross does a little dance to reset his feet.
A chopping leg kick lands by Kross.
Junior shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kross as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rich Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Junior looks for a takedown but Kross sprawls well.
Junior tries to bum rush Kross with a series of wild strikes but Kross uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kross lands with a good body shot.
Junior lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Kross takes the fight into the clinch.

Junior wants a takedown but no success here.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kross content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Kross will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Junior up against the cage.
Kross continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
Kross drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Junior gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kross has picked Junior up - he's going for a ride! Kross dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Kross moves nicely into side control.
Junior sneaks back into half guard.
Junior is trying to maintain the position but Kross is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rich Junior will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kross stuffs the takedown attempt from Junior. Junior gets slowly back to his feet.
Kross tries to counter by closing the distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rich Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Junior throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Junior rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kross moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Junior moves into the clinch successfully.
Kross is struggling to control the position.
A frustrated look appears on Junior's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Junior tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kross smiles and moves away.

Junior shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Junior showed some decent athleticism there.
Kross is trying to control but can't.

Junior wants to control but Kross is keeping him busy.

Rich Junior overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Junior is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Junior stands up over Kross, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kross is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kross is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kross tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Junior lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Kross can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Junior controls the pace.
Kross bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Junior's guard.


Junior is looking for a triangle but Kross pushes his legs off easily.
Kross scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Kross lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Kross forces his way into half guard.
Junior is not content to let Kross control the position.
Kross is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kross lands a nice short elbow.
Junior trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Kross manages to pass to mount!
Junior is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Kross lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Junior flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Kross lands a couple of good shots and Junior has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Junior distracts Kross with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Kross controls Junior momentarily but Junior frees himself.

Junior is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kross is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kross has escaped and now he's on top!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

A close second round but Kris Kross will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Junior tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kross sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Junior somewhat.
Junior throws out a loose jab but Kross uses good head movement to avoid it.
Junior connects with a single shot there.

Junior rushes Kross and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kross drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Junior gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Junior jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kross walks away with a smile on his face. Junior gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rich Junior. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kross shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Junior is trying to defend but Kross finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Let's hope that Kross has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Junior is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kross keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kross looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Junior gets back to full guard.
Kross wants to control from the top but Junior keeps moving.
Kross working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Junior's head.

Junior has his foot on Kross's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kross works his way back into a safe position though.

Junior is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Junior working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kross doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kross manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kross landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Junior wants to get back to full guard.
Junior is pressing down on Kross's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Kross trying to control the position from guard on top but Junior is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Junior will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Kross is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Junior pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Kross.
Junior throws the left hand but Kross avoids the punch easily.
Horrible takedown attempt by Junior or perhaps it was just good defense by Kross, which made it look bad.

Kross rushes Junior and presses him up against the cage.

Junior breaks the clinch.
Junior misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rich Junior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Junior throws a body shot but no joy.
Kross waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Junior.
Junior misses with a body kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kross keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Junior moves into the clinch.
Kross misses with a punch to the body.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kris Kross comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kross has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kris Kross really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that The Empire Clothing and Laundry logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
