The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshal slips under a jab.
It seemed like Marshal was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Some bone on bone action there as Marshal checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

We've been informed that Marshal has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Marshal lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Kinte or not.

Marshal does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Kinte scores with a jab. Marshal acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Marshal connects with the punch.
Kinte lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Aleksei Marshal has been cut.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kinte throws a looping overhand right but Marshal ducks down to avoid it.

Kinte lands a big head kick that sends Marshal tumbling to the mat! Kinte takes a step backwards and waves Marshal back to his feet - he wants the finish!

That was a close round but I would say that Kunta Kinte will probably get the nod.
