Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mica Gavric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malik Ramsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gavric comes to the cage accompanied by Frank Zappa - Cocaine Decisions. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramsey takes a swing at Gavric's ribcage but misses.
Gavric attempts a counter takedown but Ramsey avoids it well and moves away.
Ramsey misses with an uppercut.
Gavric shoots in looking for a takedown. Ramsey tries to sprawl out of it but Gavric keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ramsey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

so Gavric counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Gavric stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ramsey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ramsey can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gavric accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Gavric seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gavric.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Ramsey! But no joy.
Nice defenses there by Gavric.
Gavric was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Gavric throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ramsey tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gavric is in Ramsey's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gavric wants to control from the top but Ramsey keeps moving.

Gavric drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gavric jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ramsey tries to buck Gavric off but Gavric is having none of it.
The ground and pound from Gavric seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ramsey tries to improve position but can't.

Gavric tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gavric has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Ramsey is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Gavric is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ramsey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Ramsey has a hand on Gavric's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gavric takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mica Gavric is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

My spies in The Power Plant inform me that Ramsey has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
