Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Calvancante (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Serafin Cuevas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Serafin Cuevas will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mauricio Calvancante!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Serafin Cuevas!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cuevas tries to sprawl but Calvancante drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Cuevas is looking to escape.
Calvancante trying to control from half guard but Cuevas is working away.
Cuevas wants to get back to his feet.

Calvancante is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cuevas defends it well.
Calvancante prevents Cuevas from standing back up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cuevas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cuevas wants it to stay on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cuevas thuds his right hand into Calvancante's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Calvancante doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Cuevas counters with a nice uppercut.
Calvancante looks for a takedown but Cuevas sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Calvancante. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cuevas throws a good cross that connects.
Cuevas is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Calvancante shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cuevas sprawls well. Cuevas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Calvancante gets slowly back to his feet.
A jab from Cuevas finds it's way through Calvancante's defenses.
Calvancante looks for the body kick but Cuevas saw that one coming.
Cuevas works Calvancante's body with a nice hook.
No luck for Calvancante with that takedown attempt.
Cuevas looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Calvancante changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cuevas tries to avoid it but Calvancante manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cuevas to the ground. Cuevas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cuevas jabs Calvancante to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Calvancante is breathing heavily.
Calvancante takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mauricio Calvancante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cuevas clobbers Calvancante with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Cuevas throws out a powerful jab.
Cuevas throws a monster overhand right that drops Calvancante! Cuevas follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
