The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Laurence throws out the jab.
Laurence misses with a low kick.
Laurence uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bear.
Bear looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Laurence lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bear's sensitive parts.
Laurence tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A clash of legs there as Bear blocks the low kick.
Bear takes a swing at Laurence's ribcage but misses.
Bear misses with a lunging right hand
and Laurence connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Bear changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Bear lands a right hook to the body.
Bernard Bear seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bear throws a lazy uppercut
and Laurence counters with an outside leg kick.
Bear pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
It seemed like Laurence was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Bear changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Laurence looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bear creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Bear has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That has opened up Clayton Laurence's cut even more.
Laurence is trying to control Bear's posture but Bear avoids it.

Laurence is looking for a sweep.

Bear works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Laurence is looking to reverse the position.

Laurence is trying to escape the position but Bear is controlling the position.

Clayton Laurence's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Clayton Laurence's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
