Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Quin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaime Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quin comes to the cage accompanied by Captain Jack - Iko Iko. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Quin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jaime Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez misses with a body shot.
Quin jabs Alvarez right on the nose. Alvarez blinks but takes it well.
Alvarez throws a leg kick
and Quin counters with a right hand to the body.
Alvarez missing with a left hand there. Quin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Alvarez scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Alvarez swings widly with a right hand
and Quin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Alvarez looks to land a left hand but Quin moved out of range nicely.
Quin misses with a few strikes there.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Alvarez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Quin connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Quin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Alvarez with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Quin to score with a decent uppercut.
Quin connects with a jab.
Jaime Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alvarez looks to score with a jab to the body but Quin is just out of range.

Quin closes the distance and pushes Alvarez back into the cage.
Alvarez tries to pull guard but Quin won't allow it.
Quin just leaning against Alvarez, taking a breather.
Alvarez with an attempt at a knee that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quin lands a right hand.
Quin lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Quin softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Quin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Alvarez misses the jab.
Quin scores with a punch to the head.
Quin has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOD: Ground Zero in the buildup to the fight.
Alvarez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Quin.
Quin fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Quin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Alvarez's head.
A shot to the liver by Quin. Beautiful body shot.
Quin misses with a body shot.
Alvarez throws a hook but Quin avoids it easily.

Quin has closed the distance and engaged Alvarez in a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Quin has Alvarez pressed against the cage, preventing Alvarez from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Alvarez jumps guard and drags Quin to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Quin makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Quin sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Quin passes into half guard.
Alvarez is looking to control Quin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Alvarez avoid being mounted?
Quin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alvarez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez is looking for a sweep. Quin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Well, if Quin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Alvarez wants to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Quin is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Quin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Quin wants to control but Alvarez is keeping him busy.
Alvarez trying to control but Quin postures up.
Alvarez wants to improve his position but Quin is controlling well.
Alvarez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Alvarez.

Alvarez is looking for a triangle but Quin pushes his legs off easily.
Alvarez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Quin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alvarez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Alvarez looking for a sweep. Not yet Alvarez, not yet.
Alvarez wants to control but Quin passes easily into half guard.
Alvarez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Quin's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Alvarez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Quin defends it easily.
Alvarez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Quin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Quin passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Quin dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Alvarez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Quin moves away.
Alvarez is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Quin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Quin rushes Alvarez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Alvarez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Quin walks away with a smile on his face. Alvarez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Quin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Quin staying out of range there.
Quin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Quin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alvarez can do to turn this around?
A punch lands to the side of Alvarez 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Quin scores with a crisp jab that stopped Alvarez in his tracks.
Alvarez throws a lazy uppercut
and Quin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Quin is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Quin looks to land a left hand but Alvarez moved out of range nicely.
Quin checks a leg kick.
As Alvarez tries to get set, Quin tries to push him back and clinch up but Alvarez manages to avoid the attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvarez pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Alvarez takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Alvarez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Alvarez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Quin is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Quin clinches up with Alvarez and pushes him back against the cage.
Quin looking to slow down the pace here.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Alvarez misses with a knee to the head.

Alvarez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Quin uses from the top position.
Alvarez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Alvarez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Quin's guard.

Alvarez tries to free his leg and advance position but Quin is retaining full guard.

Alvarez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Quin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Quin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Quin!

Alvarez is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Quin trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quin avoids the attempt from Alvarez to control.
Quin scoring with strikes but Alvarez is staying in there.
Matt Quin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Quin with shots to the head and body - Alvarez looks very uncomfortable down there.
The referee warns Alvarez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Quin trying to control but Alvarez is having none of it.

Quin breaks from Alvarez's wrist control and lands an elbow.


Alvarez is rocked!
Alvarez sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Quin seems to be working for a kimura but Alvarez defends the submission attempt.
Alvarez trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Quin manages to pass to mount!
Quin lands a big elbow.
Quin unloading with bombs!
Alvarez is still in real trouble! Can Quin finish him?
Quin controlling from mount.
Quin raining down shots from the mount!

Alvarez is trying to escape the mount.
Alvarez tries to lock up and control but Quin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Alvarez seems to have recovered his senses.
Quin postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Alvarez bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Quin and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Quin!
During a confident post fight interview, Matt Quin thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
