Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jo Roblin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jo Roblin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Evans!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roblin looks for a takedown but Evans sprawls well.
Evans lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Evans tries to clinch up but Roblin circles away and keeps his distance.
An attempted straight right counter from Roblin misses the target.
Evans tries to close the distance and clinch but Roblin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Roblin drives through and clinches with Evans against the cage.
Evans has had enough of the clinch but Roblin keeps him there for the moment.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Roblin.
Roblin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Evans trying to stall but Roblin improves his position.
Evans is trying to break free.
Roblin is pressed up against the cage. Evans has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Roblin down to the mat. Roblin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jo Roblin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roblin shoots in but no luck this time.

Evans gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Evans is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Roblin asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Evans bucks up and tries to throw Roblin off but instead Roblin has got his back!

Roblin has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Evans's body.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Evans just trying to survive but Roblin is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
I would not like to be Evans right now.
Evans told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Roblin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Evans can do to turn this around?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roblin is looking to take a break and control but Evans is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Roblin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Evans did well to prevent Roblin getting side control.

Roblin wants to pass the guard but Evans is defending well.
Evans is looking to control Roblin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Evans avoid being mounted?
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Roblin tries to pass to full mount but Evans defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roblin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Evans leaves Roblin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Roblin doesn't manage to clinch there - Evans circles away.

Roblin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Evans for as long as he can get away with.

Roblin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Roblin moves into the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Evans's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Jo Roblin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

James Evans has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Roblin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
