PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chip Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antero Vipunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Chip Ripper has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Chip Ripper seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chip Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antero Vipunen!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vipunen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ripper manages to avoid it.
Vipunen has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Vipunen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Vipunen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rippers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Vipunen looks to throw the jab but Ripper is out of range.
Vipunen moves into range and connects with a jab.
Ripper throws out a leg kick but Vipunen moves out of range and Ripper only half commits.
Vipunen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Ripper throws a front kick aimed at Vipunen's knee but Vipunen avoids it well.

and Ripper moves into the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Vipunen tries to stall but Ripper uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ripper has Vipunen pressed against the cage.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ripper is breathing heavily.
Vipunen avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Vipunen is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Ripper is looking to chop away at Vipunen's legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chip Ripper dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Vipunen feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rippers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!


It looks like Chip Ripper has been cut.
Ripper falls off balance throwing a combination

and Vipunen counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ripper!


Ripper is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Vipunen cracks Ripper with a big elbow.
Oh Ripper is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
You can see the frustration on Ripper's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ripper seems to have got his legs back now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ripper parries the strikes from Vipunen easily there. Vipunen is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Ripper to escape.

Vipunen cracks Ripper with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Vipunen tries to score with some ground and pound. Ripper controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Ripper tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Ripper is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Vipunen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Vipunen postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Ripper is out cold - huge knockout for Vipunen!
