PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lock Bresnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daron Buxton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buxton has chosen Rammstein - Ich Will as his entrance music. Daron Buxton told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lock Bresnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daron Buxton!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buxton lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bresnar waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Buxton.
Buxton lands with an uppercut that bounces Bresnar off the cage and back into range.


It looks like Lock Bresnar has been cut.
Bresnar throws a looping overhand right but Buxton ducks down to avoid it.
A slow jab from Bresnar misses its intended target.
Buxton misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Buxton lands a left and a right that sends Bresnar crashing to the canvas! Buxton dives into mount looking to finish!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bresnar wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Buxton.
Buxton thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Buxton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Buxton jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bresnar is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bresnar and Buxton has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Buxton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bresnar, who protects the arm well.
Bresnar is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Buxton creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Buxton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Buxton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bresnar has escaped the position, nice work there.

Buxton goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bresnar is on top in guard.
Bresnar has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Buxton has his foot on Bresnar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bresnar works his way back into a safe position though.
Our spies down at at Demon's Elite Gym inform us that Buxton has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Bresnar is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Buxton has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bresnar is looking to defend but Buxton has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bresnar! Buxton pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bresnar taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Daron Buxton!
