PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wolfram Stelzer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Snake Shadow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stelzer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Satyricon - K.I.N.G.. Shadow is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Snake in the Eagles Shadow. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The Dark Side


Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Wolfram Stelzer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Snake Shadow!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stelzer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
It seemed like Shadow was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Stelzer has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Facebreaker Academy - Striking in the buildup to the fight.
Stelzer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Shadow lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Stelzer has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Stelzer and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
The crowd cheers as Shadow lands an impressive looking overhand right. Stelzer doesn't seem phased though.


It looks like Wolfram Stelzer has been cut.
Shadow tests Stelzer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Shadow jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Shadow has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Shadow rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stelzer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Stelzer ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Stelzer avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Stelzer uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shadow.

Shadow throws a big shot that misses.

Shadow throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Stelzer scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Stelzer misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Shadow counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stelzer controls Shadow momentarily but Shadow frees himself.
Stelzer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Stelzer keeping moving, preventing Shadow from controlling successfully.

Stelzer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shadow doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shadow manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shadow is pushing down on Stelzer's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stelzer is fighting to maintain full guard but Shadow has managed to sneak the leg through.

Shadow is trying to control. Stelzer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Shadow lands a nice short elbow.
Stelzer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Shadow's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Shadow's back!
Stelzer is striking from the back but Shadow escapes and manages to recover to half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shadow has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stelzer is working away from the top position though.

Shadow tries to get to full guard but Stelzer has control of the leg.
Stelzer is trying to control. Shadow wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stelzer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Shadow is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Stelzer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shadow doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Stelzer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Snake Shadow dominated that round.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Stelzer walks into a left hand.
Shadow fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Shadow is looking to land body kicks.
Good exchange - Shadow coming out on top.
Shadow misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Stelzer counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Stelzer works the jab nicely.
Shadow stuffs the takedown.
Shadow throws a shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shadow connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Stelzer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Shadow misses with a head kick.
Shadow ducks under a wild hook from Stelzer.
Shadow lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shadow.
Shadow will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Stelzer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Stelzer gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Shadow scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Nice takedown defense from Stelzer. No joy for Shadow on that attempt.
Stelzer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Snake Shadow seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Shadow looks to land a body kick but Stelzer moved away.
Stelzer connects with a body shot that sends Shadow's belly button to the back.
Shadow fails with a takedown attempt.
Wolfram Stelzer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Snake Shadow.
Shadow cracks Stelzer with an open hand slap.
Stelzer cracks Shadow with a good jab.

Shadow throws a good cross that connects.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shadow shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Stelzer drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Shadow takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Stelzer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Shadow blocks a jab.
Stelzer lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


Shadow is rocked!
A slow jab from Shadow misses its intended target.
Shadow is still on wobbly legs! Can Stelzer finish him?
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Stelzer engages and cracks Shadow with a massive lead left hook - Shadow tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Stelzer is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Wolfram Stelzer!
After winning the bout, Wolfram Stelzer thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
