Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boyd McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Smith might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Crazy Train. McGuire has chosen Five Finger Death Punch - The Way Of The Fist as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We've been informed that McGuire has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

I was talking to Smith's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
McGuire digs a right hand into Smith's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Smith's gas tank.

Smith is fighting off a takedown attempt but McGuire is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Smith to the mat. Smith regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

McGuire working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McGuire is looking for a triangle but Smith pushes his legs off easily.
McGuire has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

McGuire is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

McGuire is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Smith's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Smith! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and McGuire has tapped! This one is allllll over!
