Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Whales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan comes into the arena with Girlfriend blaring out of the sound system. Whales has chosen AC/DC - Shoot To Thrill as his entrance music. Jake Ryan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 54 - 22 - 5, fighting out of London, Jake Ryan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Patrick Whales!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whales blocks a leg kick.
Ryan has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Jungle Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Whales fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Whales tries to move into range but Ryan moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Jake Ryan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ryan shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Whales just misses with a punch to the body.
Ryan throws a leg kick that misses.
A chopping leg kick lands by Whales.
Ryan looks to score with a jab to the body but Whales is just out of range.
Whales drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ryan defends it well.
The crowd cheers as Ryan lands an impressive looking overhand right. Whales doesn't seem phased though.

Whales feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Jake Ryan will probably get the nod.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Whales working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

A less than humble Patrick Whales misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
