PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Pryce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ari Wilenius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilenius has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Ryan Pryce has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Pryce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ari Wilenius!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilenius slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Wilenius looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Pryce shoots in for a takedown but Wilenius shows good takedown defense.
Pryce throws a body kick that misses
and Wilenius counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pryce moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Wilenius misses with a straight left.
Wilenius looks winded!
Pryce changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wilenius tries to avoid it but Pryce manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wilenius to the ground. Wilenius escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Wilenius throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Pryce shoots in but no luck this time.

Pryce avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Pryce shoots in and drives through. Wilenius sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pryce rushes Wilenius and presses him up against the cage.
Wilenius tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Pryce is trying to break the clinch but Wilenius is controlling him.
Wilenius gets underhooks to prevent Pryce's takedown attempt.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Wilenius! But no joy.
Pryce shoots in looking for a takedown. Wilenius tries to sprawl out of it but Pryce keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wilenius manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pryce shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wilenius pinned against the cage. Wilenius gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pryce tries to work over Wilenius's front leg with a kick but Wilenius checks it.

Wilenius throws a shot from downtown. Pryce moves away and avoids it.
Pryce misses with a few strikes there.
Wilenius scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Pryce has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wilenius avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Wilenius tries a knee to the head but Pryce blocks it.
Pryce on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Pryce really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wilenius throws a hook to the side of Pryce's head but Pryce sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Ari Wilenius dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pryce bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Pryce shoots in and drives through. Wilenius sprawls well.
Wilenius throws out a loose jab but Pryce uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pryce is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Wilenius.
Ryan Pryce is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pryce takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Pryce managing to block the knees to the body from Wilenius.

Pryce ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pryce no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Wilenius wants to get back to striking at distance but Pryce won't allow it.
Pryce is trying to drag Wilenius to the mat but Wilenius just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Wilenius lands with a nice combination. Pryce backs away looking to recover.
Wilenius might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Wilenius wants to stand but Pryce has his arm trapped.

Wilenius is looking to take a break and control but Pryce is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ari Wilenius comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Wilenius has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
