PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Parker Farmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karen Pashikyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pashikyan has chosen Yerbolat Kudaibergenov-JENIS as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Parker Farmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karen Pashikyan!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pashikyan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Pashikyan gets a takedown into half guard.
Farmer punching from the bottom.
Farmer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pashikyan on the ground.
Farmer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pashikyan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pashikyan's back!

Pashikyan wants to escape the position.

Farmer is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Pashikyan knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Pashikyan for a finish.

Even with his hooks in, Farmer manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Pashikyan has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Farmer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pashikyan can't escape the position.
Farmer thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Pashikyan is really stuck here.

Pashikyan rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Farmer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Farmer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Farmer wants to work for an arm triangle but Pashikyan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Pashikyan moves in looking to clinch but Farmer pushes him off.

Farmer tries to break the clinch but Pashikyan is controlling the position.

Pashikyan turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pashikyan manages to end up in side control.

Pashikyan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pashikyan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Farmer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pashikyan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Farmer is on top in guard.

Pashikyan has his foot on Farmer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Farmer works his way back into a safe position though.
Pashikyan is breathing heavily.

Pashikyan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Farmer defends it easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Pashikyan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Farmer's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pashikyan pushes Farmer away with a front kick.

Pashikyan scores with a nice body kick.
Pashikyan moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Pashikyan has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pashikyan feints a jab promting Farmer to slip. Pashikyan then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Farmer slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Pashikyan has Farmer pressed against the cage, preventing Farmer from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Farmer is trying to break the clinch but Pashikyan is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karen Pashikyan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Pashikyan throws a left and a right that both miss
and Farmer counters with a two punch combo.
Farmer throws a nice looking combination but Pashikyan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pashikyan wants to counter the offense by Farmer and move into the clinch position.
Farmer takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.


It looks like Parker Farmer has been cut.
Pashikyan fails with an attempt to clinch.
That kick from Pashikyan tenderised Farmer's leg. Farmer is trying to keep his angry face on.
Pashikyan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Farmer has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Parker Farmer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pashikyan has momentary wrist control but Farmer slips an elbow through the middle.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Pashikyan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Farmer gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Farmer goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Farmer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pashikyan moves in looking to clinch but Farmer pushes him off.
Farmer appears to be looking for a big counter.

Karen Pashikyan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Farmer lands a good knee to the midsection. Pashikyan won't want to take too many of those.

I would just about give that final round to Karen Pashikyan.
Well Pashikyan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
