Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fredy Benton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Schmierer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schmierer comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Volcano, by Dethklok kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Adam Schmierer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adam Schmierer!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Benton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Schmierer keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Benton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Benton keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Schmierer's head.

Schmierer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Benton controls the pace.
Schmierer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Benton looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Benton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Schmierer felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Benton shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Schmierer gets caught flat footed, as Benton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Benton accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Schmierer is looking to stand up but Benton isn't so interested in that idea.

Benton makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Benton wants to control from the top but Schmierer keeps moving.
Fredy Benton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Benton lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Benton scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Benton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Schmierer is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Benton dives into side control.

Schmierer wants to control but Benton postures up.
Benton lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Benton is working Schmierer over with some ground and pound from side control.


Schmierer is rocked!
Benton scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Schmierer is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Benton can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
