Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wes Smith looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wes Smith!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bear clinches with his opponent.

Bear breaks from the clinch.

Bear fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but Bear persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bear is trying to control. Smith wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Bear wants to free his trapped foot but Smith is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Bear seems to be working for a kimura but Smith defends the submission attempt.
Bear throws a strike but Smith avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bear wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bear works over Smith with some ground and pound from guard.
Bear trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bear. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bear is working hard here to advance position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Smith rushes Bear and presses him up against the cage.

Bear has Smith pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bear pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Smith tumbling to the mat - Bear dives into Smith's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bear accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bear trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Smith manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Bear seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith drops back looking for a leg! Bear is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bear manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Bear's guard.

Bear has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bear's guard.

Smith stops Bear from getting back to his feet.
Bear works his way to full guard. Good work.
Smith won't allow Bear to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bear pulls Smith in close to his closed guard and prevents Smith from doing any damage or advancing position.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bear has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Bear's legs - danger averted.

Bear is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smith is aware though and is defending well.

Bear lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Bear dominated that round.
That's time! Bear's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Bear manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smith on his heels. He'll look to pass Smith's guard now, I'm sure.
Bear is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bear has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Bear will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bear stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bear loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bear shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smith napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Bear is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Smith stops Bear from passing to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bear lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Smith down.
Smith seems a little lost for a moment, as Bear dominates the positioning.

Bear in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Smith is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Bobby Bear!
