Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mitch Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike The Mower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike The Mower is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitch Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike The Mower!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Mower shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Johnson is trying to defend but The Mower finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Johnson is in trouble now - The Mower has advanced to mount!
Johnson is trying desperately to improve position.

The Mower moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Johnson has worked his arm free - good work by Johnson!
Johnson parries the strikes from The Mower easily there. The Mower is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Johnson to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.

The Mower decides to stand back up. The Mower steps back and let's Johnson get back to his feet.

The Mower looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Johnson is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if The Mower can do anything to dispel that myth.
The Mower will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The Mower tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson swivels and escapes.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. The Mower tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. The Mower manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from The Mower. The Mower gets slowly back to his feet.
Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Johnson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The Mower shoots in but no luck this time.
Mitch Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike The Mower.

The Mower misses with a low kick.
Johnson misses with a few strikes there.
The Mower changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Johnson lands a nice shot to the body.
Mike The Mower seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Mower looks winded!
Johnson swats away the attempt to clinch by The Mower.
The Mower fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The Mower is trying hard to land a takedown here. Johnson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Mitch Johnson will probably get the nod.
That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The Mower closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Johnson quickly recovers to half guard.

Johnson has one foot on The Mower's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

The Mower goes for a double leg but Johnson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Johnson continues to drive forward.

The Mower escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fight stays on the outside here - The Mower looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The Mower tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Johnson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The Mower shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. The Mower showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Mower stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

The Mower shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Johnson keeping hold of The Mower's head, controlling as best he can.
Johnson wants to get back to full guard but The Mower has passed into side control.

Mike The Mower showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



The Mower fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnson sprawls well initially but The Mower persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Well, if The Mower is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The Mower slips a nice elbow through Johnson's hands, connecting with Johnson's forehead.
Mike The Mower has got the better of the ground game so far.
Johnson tries to roll over but The Mower keeps him under control.

Johnson tries to kick The Mower off in order to stand up. The Mower Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

The Mower thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The Mower has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.

The Mower gets a clinch.
The Mower goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Johnson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. The Mower gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Johnson is trying to break the clinch but The Mower is controlling him.

The Mower breaks from the clinch.

The Mower shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johnson jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
The Mower takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The Mower tries for a takedown but Johnson circles away easily
letting Johnson counter with a right hand.
The Mower avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Johnson has had enough of the clinch but The Mower keeps him there for the moment.
The Mower doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

The Mower prevents Johnson from breaking the clinch.
Johnson is trying to drag The Mower to the mat but The Mower just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

The Mower pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
The Mower misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mitch Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike The Mower.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Johnson tries to clinch but The Mower is having none of it.

The Mower is looking for the big counter here.
Johnson scores with a one two! The Mower had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Mike The Mower has been cut.
The Mower gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Johnson counters with a crisp one two that drops The Mower! Johnson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves The Mower to his feet! The Mower is in big trouble!

Johnson shoots in for a takedown but The Mower shows good takedown defense.
The Mower is still on wobbly legs! Can Johnson finish him?
Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Mike The Mower comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think The Mower has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
