Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Laverne Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paddy McIrish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laverne Reynolds has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reynolds fails in his attempt to clinch.
Reynolds throws a head kick but McIrish moves out of range.

McIrish shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
McIrish perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
McIrish wants to pass the guard but Reynolds is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McIrish takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

McIrish closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McIrish lands in his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reynolds tries to clinch up but McIrish circles away and keeps his distance.

Reynolds takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
McIrish throws a combination. Reynolds tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

A little jabbing left from McIrish on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

McIrish is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
McIrish shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Reynolds defends it nicely.
Laverne Reynolds has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paddy McIrish.

Reynolds doesn't manage to clinch there - McIrish circles away.

Reynolds closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Reynolds tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McIrish manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paddy McIrish showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

McIrish feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Reynolds can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McIrish controls the pace.

McIrish has an Americana. Reynolds didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! McIrish is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if McIrish hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
