PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Desert Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cletus Kasady (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Desert Storm has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Desert Storm !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cletus Kasady!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kasady looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kasady is looking to take a break and control but Storm is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kasady tries to pass to full mount but Storm defends it.
Storm slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kasady stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Storm swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Storm has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kasady can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kasady wants to control from the top but Storm keeps moving.

Storm working for a triangle but Kasady defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kasady is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kasady accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kasady trying to control but Storm is working from the bottom.

Storm looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kasady trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Storm keeping moving, preventing Kasady from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kasady throws a strike but Storm rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Storm stays in close to Kasady's body and controls the position.
Storm wants to pass the guard but Kasady is keeping the position.
Storm sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Storm pushing down on Kasady's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Storm is trying to work for a kimura but Kasady is defending well.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kasady missing with punches from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Storm trying to control the action but Kasady is working from the bottom.

Storm is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kasady has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kasady is trying to control but can't.
Storm definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Storm is trying to work for a kimura but Kasady is defending well.
Kasady is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kasady shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Storm but Storm pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kasady chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Storm can pounce on him.
Storm throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Storm throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kasady closes this distance looking for a takedown but Storm circles away.
Storm fires out a quick counter leg kick but Kasady just manages to avoid it.

Storm gets caught napping as Kasady dives in and scores a takedown. Storm manages to retain guard.
Kasady trying to control but Storm is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Desert Storm will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kasady blocks a leg kick.
Storm leaves Kasady with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kasady tries for a takedown but Storm sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kasady shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Storm counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kasady's knee momentarily.
Desert Storm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cletus Kasady.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kasady is defended easily by Storm .
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Storm misses with a body shot.
Kasady drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Storm defends it well.
Kasady darts in trying to clinch
and Storm counters with a thumping low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Storm slaps away a takedown attempt from Kasady, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kasady looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kasady tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Storm defends well and Kasady ends up having to push Storm into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Storm tried to counter with a leg kick but Kasady avoided it.
Desert Storm is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Storm tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kasady.
Whack! Storm lands a heavy head kick that drops Kasady. The ref tackles Storm to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Kasady was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Desert Storm !
