The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin closes the distance and clinches.
Potter is trying to push Griffin away but Griffin has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Griffin wants a takedown but no success here.
Potter can't find room to land a body shot as Griffin controls the action.
Potter takes a knee right on the jaw!
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Griffin has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Griffin is working for takedown but Potter is calmly controlling the position for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Griffin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Potter is aware though and is defending well.

Potter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Griffin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Potter tries to free his leg and advance position but Griffin is retaining full guard.

Griffin working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Potter has passed into half guard!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Griffin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Griffin wants to improve his position but Potter is controlling well.
