PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drew Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Tuscan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes into the arena with Good Times Bad Times blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drew Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Tuscan!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tuscan fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Brooks changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tuscan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Brooks goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Tuscan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Brooks but great work by Tuscan.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brooks tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Tuscan easily slips into full mount!

Tuscan stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Brooks shoots in looking for a takedown but Tuscan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brooks's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Tuscan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brooks swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Brooks is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tuscan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Tuscan forces Brooks back against the cage and clinches.
Tuscan lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Tuscan lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Tuscan creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Brooks's defenses.
Tuscan told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

It looks like Drew Brooks has been cut.
Brooks is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tuscan gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tuscan blocks an uppercut.
Tuscan is pressed up against the cage. Brooks has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tuscan down to the mat. Tuscan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tuscan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Tuscan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Brooks fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Tuscan, pushing him back against the cage.
Knees to the body from Tuscan.
Brooks tries to pull guard but Tuscan holds him up against the cage and eventually Brooks drops back down to his feet.
Tuscan working some nice short punches in the clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Tuscan.
Brooks tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tuscan smiles and moves away.

Tuscan moves into the clinch.
Tuscan lands a nice shot to the body.
Brooks tries to score a body lock takedown but Tuscan shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Brooks has had enough of the clinch but Tuscan keeps him there for the moment.

Brooks's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Tuscan gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Brooks is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Brooks looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A body shot lands from Tuscan.
Tuscan is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Tuscan lands an elbow inside.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tuscan scores a nice knee to the body.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Tuscan obliges.
Tuscan is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Brooks is keeping busy.

That's time! Brooks's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The referee asks Brooks politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Brooks prefers to stall for the moment though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Brooks looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Tuscan!
Tuscan is pushing Brooks's head away, looking to escape. Brooks manages to hold on to the position though.

Brooks creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Tuscan sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Brooks tries to advance to mount but can't.
Tuscan is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tuscan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brooks throws a body kick that misses
and Tuscan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Brooks swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Brooks gets a clinch.
Tuscan comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Brooks jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tuscan walks away with a smile on his face. Brooks gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Brooks swats away the attempt to clinch by Tuscan.
Tuscan tries to clinch up.
Tuscan wants to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tuscan moves in looking to clinch but Brooks pushes him off.
Tuscan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Drew Brooks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Tuscan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Brooks throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tuscan was covering up waiting for the punch and Brooks finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brooks throws a big right hand that misses.
Brooks slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Brooks gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Tuscan avoids the head kick by Brooks.

Brooks manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Tuscan on his heels. He'll look to pass Tuscan's guard now, I'm sure.
Brooks is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Brooks decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tuscan, up you get!

And that's the end of the fight!
Drew Brooks showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Tuscan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
