PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Isidro Fowler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ling Manchu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ling Manchu!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and James Atkins.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fowler tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Manchu defends well and Fowler ends up having to push Manchu into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Manchu shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Manchu showed some decent athleticism there.
Manchu is nestled in close to Fowler, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Fowler really is a fat lump.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fowler wants to get up but he can't break Manchu's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Manchu throws a series of punches but Fowler moves out of range.

Manchu darts in and clinches Fowler up against the cage.

Fowler has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Manchu uses from the top position.

Fowler escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Manchu gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Manchu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Fowler stands up over Manchu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That was a close round but I would say that Isidro Fowler will probably get the nod.

Manchu throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fowler's waist but Fowler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Manchu off to one side.
It looked like Fowler was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Fowler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Manchu avoids it really well and circles away.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Manchu shoots in but Fowler avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Fowler wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Isidro Fowler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ling Manchu.
No luck for Fowler with that takedown attempt.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fowler shoots in but no luck this time.
Manchu has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Fowler is landing a low percentage of strikes.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Manchu.
Fowler throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Manchu.

Manchu has taken the fight to the clinch.
Manchu tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Manchu has Fowler pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Fowler manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Horrible takedown attempt by Fowler or perhaps it was just good defense by Manchu, which made it look bad.

Fowler gets tackled into the cage by Manchu. Manchu maintains the clinch.

Fowler is fighting off a takedown attempt but Manchu is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Fowler to the mat. Fowler regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Manchu is trying to drag Fowler to the mat but Fowler just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Fowler is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
