The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouellet displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Garner.
Ouellet tries to land a body kick

and Garner counters with a single leg into guard. Ouellet didn't expect that.

Garner stands up and waves to Ouellet to follow him.
Garner takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like Waldo Garner has been cut.

Garner gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Ouellet to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Ouellet shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Garner as he avoids it easily.

Ouellet shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Garner eats them both and turns towards Ouellet to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Ouellet lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Garner backs up against the cage.

Ouellet looks to land a strike but Garner avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Garner wants to get back to his feet but Ouellet is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Ouellet is breathing heavily.

Ouellet must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ouellet stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garner swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Garner pushes Ouellet off and gets back to his feet.
Garner seems to have got his legs back now.
Garner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Garner wants it to stay on the feet.

so Garner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ouellet is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Ouellet wants to control the position but Garner says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Garner is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ouellet can do to turn this around?

Waldo Garner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Garner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Garner half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Ouellet throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Garner's waist but Garner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ouellet off to one side.
Garner lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Ouellet moves in looking to clinch but Garner pushes him off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ouellet feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Garner has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Ouellet doesn't defend quickly enough and Garner has managed to lock this one up! Can Ouellet escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Garner on a fantastic submission victory.
